The Apostle Paul has written to the Corinthians calling them to maturity. He has compared and contrasted humanly wisdom with God given wisdom. In this passage he rebukes the Corinthians for their humanly wisdom and how it has caused their growth to stagnate. He also teaches them that growth is given by God. Text: 1 Corinthians 3:1-9 Sermon: "God Given Growth"
1 Corinthians 2:6-16 is about wisdom. Paul has contrasted human wisdom with the wisdom of God. In this passage, Paul explains that human wisdom cannot discern the wisdom of God; in fact, to understand the wisdom of God we need the Holy Spirit to reveal them to us. Today’s (4-19-2020) sermon title “The Spirit Gives Wisdom”
Pastor Chris’s sermon today (4-05-2020) comes from the text John 12:20-33 titled
“The Hour Has Come”… John has written his gospel so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing we may have life in his name. In this passage John tells us that the hour for Jesus’ redemptive work to commence has come and that through this hour God will be glorified.
Dear Church Family,
While we are separated due to the coronavirus, let me encourage you to worship as a family. Each week that we are separated, I will record a couch side chat where I explain and expound the passage of Scripture. I hope it helps you worship God. Let me encourage you to pray these prayers and to sing these hymns just as we would if we were gathered together in corporate worship.
"The Wisdom of God"
1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5
For the next few Sundays, possibly longer, we will be unable to worship as the corporate body of Christ. That is sad. One of the highlights of my week is when we gather together to worship the Triune God. While we are separated due to the coronavirus, let me encourage you to worship as a family. Each week that we are separated, I will record a couch side chat where I explain and expound the passage of Scripture, continuing our study in 1 Corinthians: A Call to Maturity. I will also provide an at-home worship guide. You don’t have to follow it, but I think it is helpful and similar to our normal liturgy...
